Yetunde's Work

...In Brief...
I'm a California native who took a leap and moved to Sydney, Australia in 2020, where I spent three incredible years working, traveling, and exploring new places. With a background in journalism, copywriting, and content editing, I've also gained experience in marketing and finance. I've had the opportunity to work in both creative, art-focused spaces and structured corporate environments—adapting seamlessly to both. Along the way, I’ve picked up skills in SEO, social media and Google Analytics, video editing, camerawork, fashion styling, and the beauty industry. I love bringing creativity and strategy together to tell compelling stories and connect with audiences.
I’m happy to provide links to more writing samples and my showreel upon request.
Professional & Educational Experience
Education
B.A. in Global Studies |
University of California
Santa Barbara
Sept 2016 - Aug 2019
Global Studies Bachelor of Arts Degree
Global Studies is an established interdisciplinary major within the Global and International Studies Program at UCSB. It's distinctive in its emphasis on international processes and interactions that bring the world together across traditional national boundaries. I gained the ability to compare and contrast across cultural perspectives; a deep knowledge of how historical, political, cultural, economic, and social forces have shaped our world into what it is today; and a perspective that allows me to "think globally but act locally". My courses came with talented and diverse faculty members who had knowledge of multiple regions of the world, teachings on the global integration of ideas and were committed to using global thinking to transform world problems.
Having this degree in my background has prepared me for every elevation in my professional career thus far.
A.A. in Journalism |
Los Medanos College
Aug 2013 - May 2016
Journalism Associate of Arts Degree

This degree led me to an entry-level position within the community newspaper at 18, whilst also leading me to transfer on to UCSB to further pursue higher education in communications and global studies.
It provided practical training, leading to careers in print and digital journalism, broadcasting, marketing, and copy & content creation. I worked as a copywriter and editor for The Experience Newspaper for 3 years while pursuing this degree and worked my way up the ranks to become the editor of the 2nd page of the paper, the "Perspective's Page". I also took a variety of journalism courses to prepare for my writing and editing career. A wonderful result of that was gaining a strong foundation in Journalism that has aided me in both my educational and professional careers. I'm grateful to have my roots in journalism.
A.A. in Liberal Arts |
Los Medanos College
Aug 2013 - May 2016
Liberal Arts Associate of Arts Degree
I simultaneously earned a double degree in Liberal Arts while at Los Medanos College. It created an extremely enriching and well-rounded experience for me. Being able to take additional courses that progressed me toward my goal of a B.A. degree and allowed me to gain professional skills and expertise that went a long way.
A great example that comes to mind is when I was able to work as a Substitute Assistant Teacher at a marvelous Montessori school whilst still studying at university and after graduating because I had taken extra courses in Child Development. I took full advantage of my educational opportunities so that I could gain a strong foundation before transferring to UC Santa Barbara.
